Abstract
Soliton lasers with a color center laser and fiber Raman soliton laser (FRSL) are useful for soliton formation. 1,2 Stimulated (or parametric) four-photon mixing (SFPM) as well as stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in optical fibers can be used to amplify light signals. The gain coefficient of SFPM is generally larger than that of SRS.3 It is important to note, however, that the parametric gain for a pulsed laser pump decreases for fibers longer than the coherence length.3 To achieve a coherent amplification for the long fiber, it is necessary to achieve phase matching keeping the frequency shift between the Stokes and anti- Stokes carriers as small as possible.3 This condition can be achieved by phase matching near the zero group velocity dispersion wavelength.4 We describe here a new soliton laser by using SFPM. We call this the parametric soliton laser (PSL).
