Abstract
KTiOPO4 (KTP) has long been recognized as a promising material for many important optical and electro-optical applications. Recent experiments by Bierlein and Van der Poel and coworkers using segmented waveguides further demonstrated that KTP holds great promise as a practical waveguide frequency-doubler for the near-infrared and for coherent blue-light generation.1,2 We report fabrication of a new type of optical waveguides with an abrupt refractive- index profile.
