Abstract
Laser oscillators based on Er3+ doped crystals and fibers have recently become a subject of great interest, particularly for their potential use in optical communication systems operating around 1.5 µm and in telemetry at eye-safe wavelengths. In this work we report, to our knowledge for the first time, the successful cw laser operation of bulk Er:Yb:phosphate glass pumped at 960 ran and 980 nm by a Ti:Al2O3 laser.
