Abstract
An attractive approach to achieving an agile, wide-bandwidth, tunable local oscillator for a 10.6-μm laser radar receiver uses a stable, fixed-frequency, low-power, cw CO2 waveguide laser combined with an external electro-optic waveguide modulator to achieve the desired offset frequency. This paper describes work directed toward development of such a modulator operating in the 0–1-GHz range.
