Abstract
Optical signal processing using waveguide delay lines can process high-bit-rate signals because optical waveguides have broad bandwidths. An optical pattern-matching circuit can detect any specified pattern in an optical signal sequence by correlation with a tapped delay line structure.1,2 This circuit is promising for ultrahigh-bit-rate operations, since operating bit rate is determined by delay time.
