Abstract
Optical nonlinearities in semiconductor doped glasses (SDG) in the absorption band-edge region have been extensively studied.1 On the other hand, the SDG IR properties have not been studied in detail. Acioli et al.,2 demonstrated large-frequency upconversion efficiency from IR to visible. More recently, Cotter et al,3 observed large picosecond nonlinear refraction at 1.06 µm, which was attributed to the optical Stark effect and a large enhancement owing to three-dimensional confinement.
