Abstract

Stimulated Brillouin scattering is an important loss mechanism for large-aperture laser fusion drivers and optical fibers. Use of stimulated Brillouin gain spectroscopy for measurements in solids was reported recently.¹ We describe measurement of Brillouin gain coefficients in crystals based on stimulated gain spectroscopy.
