Abstract
Photoconductive devices with interdigitated electrodes have shown great promise as fast photodetectors. The response time of interdigitated metal-semiconductor-metal (IMSM) detectors is primarily a function of transit time between the electrodes and the time constant of the external circuit. Reducing the interelectrode gap decreases the transit time while increasing the device capacitance, so that an optimal response time will be achieved for gaps of <0.5 μm.12
