Abstract
Passively mode-locked fiber lasers are the subject of intense research because of their potential as sources of ultrashort, transform- limited pulses at high repetition rates.1,2 The figure-eight laser has successfully produced transform-limited pulses of pulsewidths as short as 290 fs.3 However, the pulsewidths, repetition rate, and self-starting conditions of this mode-locked laser are critically sensitive to the optical anisotropy in the cavity.1-3
