Abstract
Cr3+ LiSrAlF6 (Cr:LiSAF) is a promising crystal recently developed at the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory.1 This laser media exhibits a broad fluorescence spectrum in the near infrared (750-1000 nm) and an absorption band in the red between 600 and 700 nm. With the recent development of AlGaInP diodes emitting around 670 nm, it should be possible in the near future to have an all- solid-state tima ble laser.2
