Abstract
Self-stabilization by coherent photon seeding (CPS) is a method widely used in synchronously pumped mode-locked dye lasers.1-3 The process of this technique is to split off a small fraction of the laser pulse and to superimpose it back on itself, slightly advanced in time. In this work, we report the successful extension of this method to active mode- locked LDs. A mode-locked Fabry-Perot laser is efficiently' adapted to CPS to obtain single laser chip mode. We did this by making the subcavity shorter by a few millimeters than the main cavity and adjusting the operating modulation frequency higher by a few MHz than the round-trip repetition rate, f0.
