Abstract
The generation of ultrafast electrical pulses in photoconductive switches is generally investigated by electro-optic Sampling- Measurements of photoconductive switches asymmetrically excited at the positive electrode result in pulses,1 as short as 200 fs,2 regardless of the carrier lifetime. Short pulses have been observed in Si,1 GaAs,2 low temperature grown GaAs,2 and InP.2 Models based on traps,3 field collapse,4 or avalanche injection5 have been proposed.
