Abstract
Comparative studies are given to the influence of the laser field on the Poincare maps of the electrons in collective free-electron lasers, where both positive and reversed guide fields are considered. We find that the chaotic behavior is easily caused with the laser field increasing in the case of positive guide field, but it scarcely appears if the positive guide field is replaced by a reversed guide field.
