Abstract

The application of the ArF excimer laser in corneal surgery relies on precise tissue removal during photoablation with 193-nm radiation. However, while the empirical characteristics of ArF laser ablation are well documented, the exact mechanisms of ablation are still not fully understood. The present study uses in situ laser light scattering techniques to analyze the evolution of the size and volume fraction of particles within the plume formed by ArF laser ablation of cornea.
