Abstract

The generation of picosecond high power single optical pulses is a problem of increasing importance in different kinds of laser sensor applications. It is particularly important in short-range laser radar systems for reliable distance measurements with submillimeter accuracy as well as for 3D- contour mapping of hot targets with low reflectivity, where optical pulses much less than 100 ps pulsewidth and maximum possible peak power exceeding 100 W are desirable for a dass-1-laser system.1–3
