Measurement and evaluation of chirp and linewidth enhancement factor of a 1.3 μm quantum dot laser

Abstract

We measured chirp of quantum dot lasers under 5Gb/s direct-modulation, and the chirp was less than 2GHz. From the results and some simulations, we can estimate small a of 0.3 in the quantum dot laser.
