Abstract
Stimulated Raman scattering has been investigated as a useful method for pulse power multiplication from long KrF laser pulse to short high peak-power Stokes pulse in the fields of laser plasma interaction studies and laser fusion driver development.1 It is necessary and important to generate high peak-power and low timing jitter short seed Stokes pulse for saturated efficient Raman pulse amplifier and compressor.2 In this paper, we present a new method for short Stokes pulse generation by using different transient behaviors of mixed scattering gases.
