Abstract
Motion pictures conventionally are a sound playback system based on analog optical storage methods. Recently, there is an increasing demand for a high quality digital sound system, so we have developed a simple and high quality optical digital sound system called SDDS. For the conventional system, sound is recorded by modulating the film optical density or transparent area in an analog manner. On the other hand, SDDS uses optical digital storage method and information is recorded using a dot pattern.
