Laser-induced Molecular Implantation at the Focus of an Objective Lens: A Comparative Study among Anthracene Derivatives

Abstract

Laser-induced molecular implantation was performed through a microscope’s optics with a nanosecond YAG laser (8 ns, 355 nm). Anthracene derivatives having various functional groups such as -OH, -COOH, and CnH2n+1 were used as dopants in source films and polymer films like PMMA were used as implantation targets. Mechanisms of laser-induced molecular transfer were investigated from the viewpoint of molecular structures.
