Abstract
Chaos synchronization is an important issue in practical applications, since it can be used as secure communications with chaotic carrier. In the secure communications, the receiver system only reproduces chaotic oscillations by an optical injection from the transmitter even if the signal from the transmitter includes a chaotic carrier together with a small message to be sent. In this review, synchronization of chaotic oscillations in semiconductor laser systems is investigated and the possibility for secure communications based on the chaos synchronization is discussed.
