A Multi-Dimensional Modulation Format for Mitigating Inter-Channel Nonlinear Interference in WDM Systems

Abstract

We apply a multi-dimensional (MD) shaping algorithm to improve the nonlinear tolerance of WDM systems. The results show that compared with PM-8QAM, multi-dimensional PM-16QAM exhibits better nonlinear tolerance.
