Abstract
A success of practical implementation of the well known method of thermal dynamic grating (TDG)1-3 in the contactless measurements of thermal diffusivity x of solids essentially depends on acceptable thermal excitation of the sample in order to obtain a quite noticeable signal of diffraction and on suppression of forward probe beam scattering caused by sample imperfections. In addition a theoretical model should be simple enough with the number of controlled parameters as low as possible.
