Abstract

Parametric interaction is a glittering phenomenon of nonlinear optics which has been extensively pursued theoretically and experimentally in recent times The parametric amplification of collective-waves in polar semicondutors such as phonons and polarons at the expense of pump wave has already aroused much attention for modern optoelectronic device applications e.g. for the generation of tuneable laser with high conversion efficiency, photovoltaic effect and far-infrared diagnostic systems In the present paper, we propose the large enhancement of second-order optical susceptibility which can be achieved in semiconductors by parametric amplification of the polaron mode in the presence of a strong magnetic field.
