Abstract
A variety of optical fibre temperature sensors have been demonstrated which rely on toe temperature dependence of rare earth doped glass spectra and excited state lifetimes [1] Excited state lifetime are also affected by the dopant concentration and as a result, the optimisation of a sensor require tradeoffs between signal strength dopant concerntoation and length of fibre sensor elemeat Here we present a study of the temperature and concentoation dependence of the 3P0 state of Pr3+ doped ZBLANP which is designed to elucidate these tradeoffs
