Abstract
The scalability of high power solid state lasers with excellent beam quality is usually limited by a number of thermally induced effects i.e. the thermal lensing of the laser crystal when being pumped. This paper presents a design that overcomes this scalability problem. The design contains a side pumped side cooled Nd:YAG-slab laser head in a crystal geometry introduced by McInnes and Richards [1].
