Abstract
Realizing high power high radiance sources for defense and industrial applications at the 100 kW level will likely require beam combining techniques due to fundamental thermal and non-linear limitations on the average power of a single diffraction-limited laser. Spectral beam combining (SBC) techniques can be used to sum the power of individual lasers to produce a diffraction-limited output beam with power equal to the sum of the input beams.
