Abstract
High energy picosecond lasers are important as drivers for optical parametric chirped pulse amplifiers (OPCPA), THz generation, micromachining and more. Here, we are using two cryogenically cooled Yb:YAG gain elements in a strictly image relayed multipass architecture to reach our goal of building a 100 W average power laser system delivering 1-joule pulses of 10 picosecond duration to drive high-flux mid-IR 100-mJ/100Hz OPCPAs and attosecond pulse generation in the 100 eV-keV range.
