Abstract
Recent research results on a green LED and solar cell based on ZnTe are reported. The wall plug efficiency of ZnTe LED has been improved to 0.15% by adopting a thin film structure, which is comparable to that of GaP-based green LED. The solar cell based on ZnTe with an efficiency of 1.42% has also been developed. The fundamental results on ZnTe solar cell provide a basis for future development of intermediate band solar cells based on ZnTe-related materials.
