Abstract
We observe a nearly 9-fold increase in the SBS threshold for a pulsed Yb fiber amplifier by applying a linear frequency-chirp to the input seed pulse. The chirp is achieved by pulse driving a phase modulator. SBS threshold data and transient SBS gain for various degrees of chirp are reported.
