Abstract
The luminescence spectra of upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) and functionalized UCNPs (UCNPs+folic acid)delivered via subcutaneous and intratumor injection into ratswere measured. The particles in normal skin do not diffuse and dissolve, but remain at the introduction site. Inflammatory reaction is developing in the skin when UCNPs wereinjected. The dense connective tissue capsule is formed around the particles in 3 days after administration. UCNPs were located in the tumor diffusely after 4 daysof injection. Up to 80-90% of the tumorwas necrotized after laserirradiation on thefourth day after UCNPadministration.
