Abstract
In this paper, we report on the time-resolved detection of phonons in single crystal tellurium. Tellurium is a singleelement semiconductor with a strong Raman-active A1-mode. Additionally three other photon modes exist: two Raman- and infrared-active E-modes and one only infrared-active A2-mode.1 Coherent excitation of the infrared-active phonons will lead to terahertz (THz)-emission.
