Abstract
John Bell showed in 1965 that local hidden variable theories yield experimental predictions that differ from the corresponding quantum mechanical ones. Bell’s inequalities are quantitative expressions of the fact that correlations in local theories are limited. Quantum mechanics, however, can surpass that limit.
