Abstract
Quantum Mechanics has explained and accurately predicted many phenomena in Modern Physics. In spite of this success there still remains a lot we do not understand about the Theory. Therefore it is important to have empirical verification of the fundamental postulates of Quantum Mechanics. In this experiment we have set out to test Born’s Rule [? ], which interprets probability P(r,t) as the modulus squared of the wavefunction ψ(r,t). The probability is given by P(r,t)=f p(r,t)d3r, where p(r,t) =|ψ (r, f)|2 is the probability density function. This has correctly described many experimental results, and has thus been indirectly verified. Yet, to our knowledge, this is the first proposed experiment directly testing this postulate of Quantum Mechanics.
