Abstract
FTIS is a compact Fourier-Transform-Imaging-Spectrometer, which is based on the Michelson principle with fixed mirrors. The presented concept for a hyperspectral imager is ideally suited for small satellite remote sensing missions. The scene scanning by platform propagation produces spatially modulated interferograms. The feasibility of a spaceborne instrument for the VNIR and the SWIR wavelength range was demonstrated in frame of an ESA study. The theoretical performance limits (instrument line shape, stability of spatial and spectral resolution) were verified by breadboarding of the interferometer.
