Abstract
We had developed the imaging Fourier transform spectrometer (iFTS) for the application of the fa-infrared astrophysics. The iFTS was built in the Far Infrared Surveyor (FIS) , which is one of the focal plane instruments of the Japanese infrared astronomical satellite "AKARI" (formerly ASTRO-F). The AKARI was launched on February 21, 2006 (UT), successfully. The iFTS works very well in orbit and takes many far-infrared spectra of astronomical objects. The AKARI mission is lead by ISAS/JAXA in collaboration with ESA, as well as many universities and institutes from Japan, Korea and Europe.
