Abstract
Advances in active imaging polarimetry of Stokes or Jones matrices are providing meaningful and challenging data sets at the expense of greatly increased instrument complexity relative to passive polarimetry. Visible passive polarimetry is complicated by the large polarization changes associated with solar motion complicating data interpretation. Active polarization provides more unambiguous data sets. The resulting complex data requires advances in polarimetric scattering models for more complete utilization and understanding.
