Abstract
Laser-diode(LD)-pumped microchip-solid-state lasers are not being so widely used in spite of their compactness, low cost and low consumption of electric power. If simple techniques of Q-switching are developed to yield high peak power, the microchip lasers will find various applications. As for active Q-switching of the microchip lasers, a piezoelectrically-driven etalon[1] and a conventional electro-optic switch[2] were used.
