Abstract
Phase-space optics, and in particular the Wigner distribution function are applied to a variety of design problems in optics. Special emphasis is given to the design of Talbot array illuminators. Preliminary results on using phase-space optics to optimize the system response in the Fraunhofer diffraction regime are presented as well.
