Abstract
Chromatic dispersion and PMD can be compensated using a linear feedforward equalizer, either with or without a nonlinear decision-feedback equalizer. Nonlinear phase noise is correlated to the received intensity, and so can be compensated by combining the received phase with a linear function of the received intensity.
