Abstract
We experimentally control the emission properties of one-dimensional (1D) parabolic-beam photonic crystal (PhC) fundamental mode lasers by changing the position of tapering end. Vertical emission of air-center cavity (ACC) fundamental mode is prohibited due to its symmetric behavior and balance of Ey field distribution along the cavity center. On the other hands, Ey field of dielectric-center cavity (DCC) fundamental mode is not cancelled out and photons are vertically emitted.
