Abstract
Noble metals exhibit strong optical nonlinearities, with coefficients as high as χ(3) = 1nm2/V2. Metal nanostructures can be employed for efficient index modulation, two-photon excited luminescence, harmonic generation, and wave mixing. We discuss and review recent results and applications.
