Abstract
Yb3+/Er3+ co-doped Ba0.5Ca0.5ZrO3 (*BCZ) ceramics at different sintering temperature through solid state reaction route are prepared. The ceramics are exposed to high power 980 nm NIR laser source where upconversion photoluminescence properties of the ceramic are investigated. The blue upconversion emission centered at 479 nm corresponds to the transition 1G4 → 3H6, the emission band around 650 nm corresponds to the transition 1G4 → 3F4 of Tm3+. Energy transfer from Yb3+ to Tm3+ is mainly nonradiative and the transfer efficiency was experimentally assessed. The sample advances with its electrical property variation incorporation with spectroscopic investigation. Simultaneously piezoelectric, dielectric & ferroelectric properties has been studied in the ceramics. Furthermore, color purity & CIE calculation of the luminescence spectra shows that the upconversion corresponding with transitions 1G4 → 3H6 in BCZ doped with Yb3+ and Tm3+ is potentially useful for blue light output.
