Abstract
The first demonstrations of frequency doubling in periodically domain-inverted LiNbO3 waveguides have recently been reported /1,2/. We discuss fabrication methods, the mechanisms involved in domain inversion, and suggest possible improvements in the fabrication process. The technique allows the possibility of generating blue light, by frequency doubling of semiconductor lasers, in a more efficient manner, i.e. guided to guided interaction.
