Large refractive-index change by carrier injection in multiquantum-well waveguides

Abstract

Devices using refractive-index change such as lasing wavelength selection1 or conversion2 are indispensable to establish wavelength-division optical systems. For these devices, layers whose refractive index changes greatly are favorable to obtain large operating wavelength width.
