Abstract
The hyperfine spectrum of diatomic bromine (79-79) has been studied under self-broadening and foreign gas (helium) broadening conditions. The hyperfine splitting of this molecule is of the order of 300 MHz, and sub-Doppler resolution is required. The experiments were carried out by sub-Doppler saturation spectroscopy in an intermodulated fluorescence scheme1 using an argonion-pumped ring dye laser (20-MHz bandwidth).
