Abstract
Efficient laser operation at room temperature on the transitions 4(%)1½–4(%)1.3/2 of erbium ions and 5(%)7–5(%)8 of holmium ions (λ = 2.088) is reported. Oscillation efficiency is more than 1%; oscillation threshold is <40 J. The high efficiency is obtained due to the sensitization of luminescence of rare-earth ions by chromium ions.
