Abstract
Colloids of II-VI semiconductors can be prepared by arrested precipitation techniques. The average diameter in the ~15-100-Å range can be controlled by synthetic manipulation. Electron microscopic examination shows that these crystallites have the same crystal structure as the bulk material.1 Optical absorption spectra shows that these crystallites have discrete molecular orbitals rather than a continuous band structure.
