Abstract
Rare-earth doped fibers are very advantageous for optical communications as active devices such as fiber lasers and in-line amplifiers.2 Wide tunabilities and cw laser oscillations with low thresholds are the remarkable features of the fiber lasers. Simultaneous and multiple wavelength oscillation of 0.9 μm-l.55 μm in a spliced fiber laser have demonstrated3 for the purpose of having many oscillation wavelengths in a laser. Although there is only one recent report on simultaneous and multiple laser oscillation4 which incorporates (Ho,Nd) YAG rod, there is no report on multiwavelength oscillation in a rare-earth mixed fiber laser.
