Abstract
Strong field processes haI e recently been proposed[1] as means of increasing desired nonlinear optical processes relatiI e to absorption, thereby increasing o Ierall efficiency. Dramatic increases in transparency haI e been obserled[2] in the case where a strong applied field is resonant with a transition between excited states and one of these states is the upper state for the absorbing transition. Such a process can be I iewed as arising from a radiatilely renormalized optical interaction.[3] vn the present work we apply this approach to the analysis of a two-field renormalized atomic system, that is, a system where two fields at different resonance frequencies are strong.
