Non-Collinear Wave Mixing in Doppler Broadened Molecular Transition

Abstract

Perturbation calculation of resonant degenerate wave mixing processes were done up to fifth order for planar wave mixing arrangements. The non-linear medium is an optically thin ensemble of two-level particles with center frequency ω0 and a single relaxation rate, for the populations and optical coherence, γ « Δωdoppler. Three beams I1, I2 and I3 all at frequency ω≈ω0 incident on the medium as depicted in Fig. 1 produce the non-linear optical polarization which is phase matched to radiate a diffracted beam Id also at ω.
